And How to apply for CEWS

The Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy (CEWS) program will be rolled out on April 27. The Government of Canada's online calculator allows businesses to preview their claim ahead of time.

Application will be through your My Business Account on the CRA web site. You are encourged to register your payroll account for direct deposit to get your payment faster. Applicants will be asked to provide number of eligible employees and gross payroll for subsidizing amount.

The program is intended to prevent future job loss and encourage re-hiring workers already being laid off. In order to be able to apply for the subsidy, you need to be paying your employees the whole time, they cannot be out of pay for over 14 days within the claiming periods.

This consists of a 75% wage subsidy (up to $847 per week or $3,388 per 4-weeks' period per employee, up to 12 weeks) for qualifying businesses, for up to 3 months, retroactive to March 15, 2020, which was announced by the Prime Minister on March 27

So, is your company an eligible company for the application?

And then, you need to experience a drop of revenue because of the pandemic, this is what the CRA needs to see to get you qualify:

It is best if you can make sure you have all the payroll information (amounts you are paying your employees) and amounts being calculated for the program. CRA has prepared a calculator for you, so that you dont have to get timed out when you are taking loger to get the numbers in.

When you are ready, you can go to your CRA "My Business Account" to do the application.
