How to figure out what health coverage you need?

I have been chatting with some prospects on their needs on health coverages lately and found that a lot of them actually have no clue what "health insurance" consist of.
 
In the insurance world, "health insurance" normally referred as "living benefits". That includes: health & dental coverage; critical illness coverage; long term care coverage & disability coverage.
 
Let's drill down what is what.
 
Health & dental coverage is what we usually need day in and day out: when we get sick, the doctor gives you a prescription, you go to the pharmacist, you have to pay for the medication;

I was chatting with an inside wholesaler the other day and we were discussing whether or not a company needs to have a lot of products to offer. I responded that I really don't think all companies need to have a lot of different solutions as we as advisors deal with a lot of companies already. All the companies only need to make sure they focus what they do best and advisors will pick between products and solutions.

Do you drive to work every day? Do you drive your kids or your family to different activities all the time? You have gatherings with friends and family almost every week? Do you drive to all those occasions inclusively? Have you think of how many hours you have been driving (or being on the road)?

 
Even you might not drive, you might still ride a car or public transit. Chances are you are on the road when you are not at home, at work or at school. We are always on the road, always, more than you are aware.

Is amazing how many people have no idea what "mortgage insurance" means...
 
I have met many people, think mortgage insurance is the same as mortgage loan insurance. 
 
Ok, let's make it clear: mortgage loan insurance is usually provided by CMHC and GE, mostly CMHC. From CMHC's web site, it defines mortgage loan insurance as follows: Mortgage loan insurance is typically required by lenders when homebuyers make a down payment of less than 20% of the purchase price.
